To better serve the Avidya Forest, I occasionally offer training courses to the Forest Rangers. If you want to split hairs, then yes, these courses would be considered as "dissemination of information" by the Akademiya. But what are they gonna do — lock me up? I dare them. We'll see how many patients suffering from weird and wonderful ailments start flooding into the Bimarstan every day!
Tighnari works as a forest ranger of the Avidya Forest. He cares about ecology, science and taking action if necessary, even when that action is against laws. He wishes people would obey the laws of the forest, which are much more important than any rules people make.
Valuka Shuna — Tighnari is descended from Valuka Shuna or Tighnarians, for which Tighnari was named. They are a people said to have canine features. Hermanubis, a Valuka Shuna priest, having the head of a jackal. Through generations and implied interbreeding with humans, present descendants of Valuka Shuna have large fox ears and fluffy tails but otherwise human features.
Vision — Tighnari possesses a dendro (plant) vision
Corruption & shifted form
Natural Soul — Tighnari's natural soul is a Terra soul with inspiration from Papaver somniferum (opium poppies).

Who in your character's canon influenced the most growth in your character? What do they think about this character?
Tighnari has taken an apprentice in Collei, and their relationship is key to understanding Tighnari. Collei is a young woman who has had a hard life. Born sickly, she fell into the hands of someone who used her for unethical and unsafe experiments. Once she left that person, she was treated poorly wherever she went due to her illness and became angry and jaded. Events led her to Sumeru where she wished to become stronger and stand on her own. This is where she came under Tighnari's tutelage. He helps her learn skills that she never had the chance to such as reading and writing and those necessary for becoming a forest ranger. Her aim is to eventually learn advanced medical techniques.
Tighnari appreciates hard work, dedication and conviction, all of which Collei has in spades. He takes a strict attitude when teaching Collei but they both understand this is because he loves her dearly and wants her to achieve as much as possible. He thinks she is remarkable and impressive, admiring her drive and attitude when it comes to managing disability and disadvantages. Despite this, he does keep a close eye on her, particularly when it comes to her potentially ignoring her limits when it comes to her illness, which he knows she finds frustrating.
Tighnari often finds himself with unasked for roles and responsibilities as a highly competent person who gets on and gets things done. However, his taking Collei as his apprentice does not seem to be one of those occasions. He offered her the position because he saw it as a good fit and takes great pride in her progress. Taking on that role allowed him to grow into a better teacher and show off his caring side as teaching Collei also included helping her process her trauma.
What does your character think about physical appearances? Are they the sort to meticulously primp themselves, or could they not care less?
Tighnari thinks physical appearance gives excellent information with which to make deductions about others. He will notice the small things that suggest at someone's background, their social status, whether they are familiar with the area or from far away. He assesses these things without judgement — someone with cheap shoes so worn the soles are practically paper will receive the same treatment from him as someone with boots of a quality they will last decades — but he will judge based on whether someone has applied sense in presenting themselves — eg you should be prepared when entering the forest, no matter how pleasant the weather is in that moment, if it's a changeable time of year, you don't want to be caught without a waterproof layer and supplies if you run into trouble.
He does take care of his appearance but in practical ways with his focus on maintaining cleanliness and hygiene. He makes sure he wears appropriate clothing for his work that will protect him while allowing easy movement. The exception to this is he is vain about his tail. He uses scented oil to keep it in the best condition and takes great pride in making it look its best.
What would your character say is their best trait? What is truly their best trait?
He would say his tail is his best trait. He takes great pride in it and tends to it diligently. His actual best trait is his kindness and willingness to apply his intelligence to help others. He is the kind of person who repeatedly ends up in leadership positions because he will suggest improvements that are efficient and effective until he is handed the role as the only logical choice for the position.
He also brings joy to his work. He enjoys the wonders of the natural world and finding new plants, animals and fungi. This relates to his ability to help others because this delight in small wonders is one of the ways he draws people in and helps them grow. When people see him wrapped up in research, they can't help but want to find the same passion for themselves, and Tighnari is always delighted to assist.
What is justice to your character? How important is it to them?
As a lover of nature, Tighnari has little patience for rules created by people that serve only to make things easier for those who make the rules. The laws of the forest are far stricter than those of people, and those are the laws Tighnari abides by. While banned by the rules of the Akademiya, Tighnari salvaged and repaired a mechanical crab that was given true life through illegal research. It was with some glee that he declared Karkata to be his research assistant, and that "If anyone wants to do anything to it, they'll need to go through me."
Corollary to this is that Tighnari is in favour of reform over punishment, though the means of reform might also be considered a punishment by some. Rather than giving someone who missteps in the forest a fine or other punishment, Tighnari will patiently explain at length the exact nature of their mistake, how they can prevent it in future and what action they should take in that moment.

Player Goals: I'm excited to play a character who is more intrigued than horrified by becoming a plant monster. I would like to give Tighnari an extra fungus soul once I've got enough points, though this will take me a while!
